Much of the information provided here regarding the family of Stephen Ford is circumstantial and should be considered tentative pending further research. Michel Ford provides the birthplace of his father as South Carolina in the 1880 and 1910 Censuses; he himself being born in Louisiana. Proximity (they lived in the same town) and absence of better options would tend to infer that Stephen Ford was probably Michel's father. Stephen is mysteriously absent from the 1870 Census and wouldn't be recorded by name on anything prior. See Michel Ford for further discussion regarding the Fords prior to 1870.
