Facts and Events
Address: Address 1: 118 Bancroft Dr. City: Rochester State: New York A man of many interests. Self-taught. Was the family historian in that he took many, many pictures. Very intelligent. [Brøderbund Family Archive #110, Vol. 1, Ed. 4, Social Security Death Index: U.S., Social Security Death Index, Surnames from A through L, Date of Import: Oct 2, 1996, Internal Ref. #1.111.4.107584.101] Individual: Holczimmer, Stephen Birth date: Jan 19, 1894 Death date: Sep 1968 Social Security #: 104-09-9529 Last residence: New York 14616 State of issue: New York When Stephen and Madalena were married, he was living at 3 Mozart Place in Rochester and she was at 35 Hawkins St. in Rochester. His occupation is listed as cabinet maker and hers is B & L Co. (Bausch & Lomb). On Naturalization paper No. 2087702, Stephen Holczimmer is listed as residing at 31 Oakman Street in Rochester, New York. He is 5' 7" tall, of dark complexion, gray blue eyes and brown hair. His one daughter is 6 years old (Elizabeth) and Magdalena is 5 years old. For some reason there is a red line through the space for "Name, age and place of residence of wife." I have the Draft card for Uncle Steve. He is listed as living at 115 Cummings Street. He is registered on the 27th day of April 1942 (he was 48 years old). He is listed as being 5' 6" tall, weighing 162 lbs., gray eyes, grey hair, and ruddy complexion. Also have his birth certificate copy made in 1907 January 2. Don't know why so late as he was born January 19 1894. He is listed as István Mihály (Stephen Michael) which is surprising because no one remembers him using his middle name. They were living at #607 Semlak. Jósef Bedrich was the Pastor who baptized him on January 20, 1894. Uncle Steve was a very intelligent individual despite his few years of formal education. He had a very inquisitive mind and was always trying to improve himself. He and Aunt Lena took me to such things as the Highland Park Bowl to hear classical music, to the beach, on leaf hunts for a project I had in school, and to the Eastman Theater. He also used me as his model for photographs. I wasn't too happy about posing for him at the time, but because of him, I have a record of growing up. References
