Stan Haveman, age 98, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2013. He was born on January 1, 1915, the oldest of six children born to Henry and Maggie (Dyk) Haveman in Lynden, WA. After finishing high school, he worked with his dad repairing cars and driving bus. On September 28, 1939 he married Ann Worst. They were married 65 years when Ann passed away in January 2005.
Stan and Ann moved to Seattle in 1941, and then to Lynnwood in 1973. They attended Seattle Christian Reformed Church and later Lynnwood Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Due to his failing health, Stan moved to Lynden Christian Health Care Center in 2008.
The majority of his working career was with Inland Transportation as a driver hauling petroleum products throughout the state. He loved woodworking, gardening, motorcycles and traveling by car.
Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; sisters, Henrietta and Wanda; brother, Marion; and son-in-law, Kenneth Lont. He is survived by two children, Merv (Diane) Haveman and Phyllis Lont; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Assink and Dolly Van Loo.
A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Duane Van Loo in the basement of Lynden Second Christian Reformed Church, 710 Front St., 11:30 am on Saturday, October 12.
