Soren Nilson Bjorndahl born in Norway moved with his parents to North Dakota in March 1882 His parents stated that they were from the Bjorndal farm when they immigrated to the United States in 1882.

The parish register lists several godparents or sponsors, two of which appear to be Gunuf Olsen Bjorndalen and Anne Sorensdatter Bjorndalen, who lived at the same farm as Soren's parents.
