Note: She was known as Ellen. After her husband's death Ellen became a migrant worker. She followed the crops harvesting their seasonal ripenings all year long. As a "prune picker" she picked peaches, pears, beans, cotton, and any other thing that would grow on vines. Some of her children became part of California’s Cannery Row. John Henry’s death made a great impact on her religious life. She always carried and read her faithful Bible. She died of tuberculosis, the 2nd of September, 1934 in Wasco, Kern County, California, USA at the age of 56 with all of her children at her bedside. She was buried in Bakersfield, Kern County, California, USA. The family was very close but after her death they went their separate ways.
