    Marriage Date: Chippewa County Marriage records on microfilm at Wisconsin State Historical Society, Madison, Wisconsin, Microfilm record #02904 (I have photocopy). The names were recorded as Joseph Swobody & Sophia Rosendall. Sophia's parents' names were recorded as Ernest & Sophia Rosenall. These were Sophia's aunt and uncle and were probably her guardians. Ernest was a brother of her father, Friedrich. Record contains date & place, occupation, residence & birthplace of husband, parents' names; ceremony by Justice of the Peace, Henry Coleman.

  5. ↑ This Sophia may be the same Sophia who was a daughter of Friedrich Rosenthal and his first wife, Christiane Frederike Franke, who died when that Sophia was born. The mother-less Sophia may have been raised by Ernst & Sophia, because she was in Ernst's household at age 16 (1870 Census, Chippewa County) and Ernst & Sophia were named as her parents in her marriage record to Joseph Swoboda.
