EGHR, 1917, p. 236, Genealogical Research In England: Sir Gilbert Jocelyn, a wealthy Norman knight, came to England, it is said, with the Conqueror, and married the daughter of a Saxon thane. He settled in Lincolnshire, where he held of Gilbert of Gaunt the lordships of Semperingham and Tyrrington.
