    [4023] Simon1 Ray (Rea), was baptized at Cowlinge, Co. Suffolk England Nov. 6, 1610 a son of Simon and Sarah (Pegron or Pilgrim) Ray of Hundon & Cowlinge. His ancestry for several generations back has been established (see N.E. Hist. Gen. Register Vols. 63, 64, 66, 69, 86, & 104). He came to New England about 1639 or 1640 and settled at Braintree where he died soon afterwards on Sep. 30, 1641. The inventory of Simon Ray was taken Feb. 20, 1641 (2) by Martin Saunders & Richard Brackett, £122/14/4."
