According to "HARSCH (HARSH) and ORWIG GENEALOGY", by James R. Harsch of Toledo, Ohio, Marie Barbara’s grandfather was thought to have been CONRAD HENRY HIRSCH, who around 1740 settled in Upper Salford Tp., Philadelphia Co. (now Montgomery Co.), Pa. Nothing is known relative to his wife. There were at least six children, they being Philip, Simon, Johanes, Lewis, Eva, and Anna Barbara. "Rupp’s 30,000 Names of Germans, etc." showed PHILIP HIRSCH, age 22, on Boat "SAMUEL" in 1739 (Johan Lorentz Hentzel on this same boat); also, Simon HIrsch, age 18, and Johanes Hirsch on Boat "LYDIA", arriving Philadelphia Sept. 27, 1740. According to Hinke and Strassburger’s "PENNSYLVANIA GERMAN PIONEERS", Vol. I, Simon and Johannes were shown on Page 276 as "HERSH", page 277 as "KERSH", and on page 278, when SIMON subscribed to the government and took oath, as "SIMON HIRSCH", with his mark (x). SIMON HIRSCH, father of Marie Barbara, was born in 1722 and died In 1807. In either 1756 or 1757, according to church records, which were later questioned, he married a "LAWAR". The question was to which one of the daughters. Her name could have been Maria Elizabeth, Anna Maria Elizabeth or Mary. Simon (Simeon) HARSH made a will Oct. 26, 1798, which was probated Apr. 6, 1807. As to the family, it listed a wife, "MARY", and children, PHILIP, HENRY, GEORGE, JOHN, ELIZABETH (NISTRIKE), FRANCES (MYERS), Heirs of SARAH (STOUPHER), MARGARET (FRIEND), and BARBARA (HORNSEL).

Henry (1758-1839); John and George were said to have served in the Revolutionary War.
