Sharon S. Byerly died December 14 at Mason City, Illinois.
Born September 22, 1891 at Warrensberg, Mo., he was seven when his family moved by wagon train to Indian Territory, Okla.
At Coyle, Okla., he met and married Hazel Rohrer October 2, 1912. To them were born eight children: John Byerly Pueblo; Mrs. J. T. (Mary) Enos, Rocky Ford; Mrs C. C. (Esther) Markham, Fowler; , Mason City, Illinois; Mrs. J. E. (Lida) Chapman, Salt Lake City Utah; Ben Byerly, Chestertown, Md.; ; and , Buena Vista. He is also survived by a sister, Miss Marietta Byerly of Tishomingo, Okla., 30 grandchildren and seven great-grand-children.
The Byerlys moved to Colorado in 1943 and lived near Fowler until 1945 when they moved to a ranch near Westcliffe where they lived until ill health caused them to move to Illinois in October of this year.
Funeral services were held December 18 at Mason City, with all children being present.

MASON CITY -(PNS)- Samuel Byerly, 70, of R. R. 1 died at 5 p. m. Thursday.
His funeral will be at 1 p. m. Monday at Conrad Funeral Home, with burial in Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 22, 1891, at Warrenburg, Mo., a son of John A. and Elizabeth Emmert Byerly. He married Hazel Rohrer Oct. 2, 1912 at Argus, Ind.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, , Mason City; John, Pueblo, Colo.; Benjamin, Chestertown, Md., five daughters, Mrs. Mary Enos, Rocky Ford, Colo,; Mrs. Esther Markham, Fowler, Colo.; Mrs Lida Chapman, Salt Lake City, Utah; , Salida, Colo.; , Buena Vista, Colo.; a sister, Miss Marietta Byerly, Tishomingo, Okla.; 30 grandchildren and seven great-grandchilren.
He came to Mason City in October, 1961 from Colorado where he was a rancher.
- ↑ Further research the Dunkard Brethren started in 1926. The Root family was very instrumental in getting it going in Elk City, OK. after the Church of the Brethren had fallen apart there. Dunkard is more used as slang prior to this date.
- ↑ Sharon Samuel Byerly appeared in the Beckham Co. OK - WWI War Numbers on Thursday, 12 July 1917 issue Beckham County Democrat Newspaper, Erick, Oklahoma published a listing entitled "BECKHAM CO. WAR NUMBERS. The Selective Service Conscription legislation passed by Congress and signed by President Wilson in May 1917, stated every male resident of the United States who had reached his 21st birthday and not his 31st birthday had to register on day set - June 5, 1917.
