Charleston - Shannon Anthony Mascia, 23, of Charleston died Saturday in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 19, 1973, in Fayetteville, N.C., the son of Tony A. and Peggy Lynn Mascia.
He was a bartender at Ramada Inn and J.D.'s Steak House in Sikeston. He had been accepted into the Southeast Missouri Police Academy and was to begin classes in May.
He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Mississippi County and was named Cadet of the Year in Missouri in 1994.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Jim Jepsen Sr.; a half-brother Jim Jepsen Jr.; two half sisters, Stephanie Eisley and Andrea O'Donnell; maternal grandparents, Ameil and Mary Powell; maternal step-grandmother, Ruby Lynn; paternal step-grandmother, Dorothy Jepsen; and his fiancee, Amy Belongy.
He was preceded in death by his father and paternal step-grandfathers.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
