Peggy Ann Jepsen

PEGGY ANN LYNN-JESPEN, Age 72, affectionately known as “Mrs. Claus”, died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at her home in Charleston.
Born May 6, 1944, at Charleston, MO, to the late Clifford Lynn and Mary Martha McCormick Powell, she was a 1962 graduate of Charleston High School. She then enrolled in nursing school at the Poplar Bluff School of Nursing and graduated April 30, 1963 as an LPN. Peggy then worked in the emergency room of Missouri Delta Medical Center and as an ENT, Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN, the Erwin Hospital in Erwin, NC and for Dr. Waltrip in Sikeston. For two years, she drove as a team driver for Sam Tanksley Trucking with her husband and then went back in to nursing at the Anaheim Medical Center in Anaheim, CA. She then worked for Beverly Enterprise in Ben Wheeler, TX and a self-sustained home for the handicap in Canton, TX.
She then moved back to Charleston and worked for Pyramid Home Care as a nurse and workmen’s compensation coordinator and then a number of area nursing centers including the East Prairie Nursing Center, Bertrand Nursing Center, Beverly Nursing Center in Cape Girardeau, Dexter Nursing Center, Bloomfield Nursing Center and the New Madrid Nursing Center, retiring in 2013.
She and her husband were most known for their role played as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for many family and community events and activities throughout Southeast Missouri.
On April 29, 1978, she married Jim “Doc” Jepsen, who survives of the home in Charleston.
Also surviving are her brothers, Larry Lynn of Erwin, NC and Jimmy Powell of Charleston and her sisters, Janet McMillan of Sikeston, Dottie Vaughn of Matthews and Karen Stallings of Sikeston; also a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her son, Shannon Anthony Mascia.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Private interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
