8 August 2011: Sewell Davis Scott, age 77, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Scottie was a 1952 graduate of P.S. DuPont High School. He served in the United States Army as a military police officer during the Korean War. He served with the Delaware State Police from 1958 to 1978, retiring as a Staff Captain, Director of SBI. Scottie was a lifetime member of the Delaware State Police Retired Association, and a member of ASIS. He also worked for J.R. Gettier & Associates as the director of research management. Scottie is survived by; his wife, Sandra E. Scott; his children, Michael Scott (Trissie), Mark Scott (Sandi), Dawn Purse (Tim), Debra Merritt (John) and Belinda Ritter (Neal Ferguson); his sister, Eleanor Robinson-Sersey, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. A funeral service will be held at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, on Wednesday, August 10, at 10 am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, August 9, from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Scottie may be sent to the Delaware State Police Museum, 1425 N.
