Will Transcript

n the name of God Amen. This fourth day of February 1747, I Sarah Hays, the wife of Robert Hays, lately deceased, of Frederick County and Colony of Virginia, being sick of body but of perfect memory thanks be to the almighty God, and calling to remembrance the uncertainty of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield unto death when it shall please God to call, do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth, Viz.
I commit my soul to God and my body to be buried in the earth after a decent manner at the discretion of my executors.First I order all my legal debts to be paid and funeral expenses to be discharged and all the rest of my of my estate, both real and personal I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Hays and his heirs forever, only a piece of cloth I give & bequeath unto my brother Samuel Worthington and also I order that my clothes may be divided betwixt my mother and my two sisters, Else Bodingham and Martha Sweam and likewise I do choose and nominate my true & trusty friend and my brothers Robert Worthington and Samuel Worthington to be my executors of this my last Will and Testament, and I do revoke & [annul] all other former wills and testaments. Given under my hand & seal the day and year above written.

At a court continued and held for Frederick County on Wednesday the 2nd day of March 1747.
This will of Sarah Hay, deceased, was proved in open court by Samuel Walker, John Ramzey and John Conwill, witnesses thereto, and Robert & Samuel Worthington, the executors therein named, having made oath to the same according to law it was admitted to record.
