Facts and Events
See Warren Co., IA Courthouse Records showing marriage of C.G. Braught to Sarah E. White 21 Jun 1866. Sarah White Braught parents were James (Dad) and N. White. Affidavit Sep 22, 1911 by A. Kaho, age 63, and Rachel T. Braught (Mrs. Samuel Braught), age70, both residents of Oswego, Labette Co, KS. They were present at funeral of Sarah White, first wife of C.G. Braught and they knew Cynthia A. Chastain when they married. I think Sarah may have been born at either Leipsic or Gilboa in Putnam Co., OH. I need to also clarify site of her gravestone (see below). Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Richland Twsp., Labette Co. (between Oswego and Chetopa, KS) shared gravestone says: son and dau of C.G. and S.E. Braught - Charles F. Braught d.Sept.26,1872 aged 2yrs, 3ms., 9d. and Claria B. Braught, died Aug.26,1873, aged 11 ms., 16ds. Also stone clearly engraved Sarah E. Braught, dau. of J.&N. White, wife of C.G.Braught died April 1, 1882, aged 31yrs, 7ms.14ds. Therefore, we can have no doubt about her relationships. See grave stone photos taken at Pleasant Hill Cem. near Oswego, KS on 18 Jul 1997, including photos with Connie McGruder and Loran Braught between these stones. Stone for Sarah had an anchor on top (significance?). White family data from Judith Mathre ([email protected] - husband = Dale) Dec. 2000 provided considerable White family data in Putnam Co. OH, but no direct relationship data to Sarah E. White. However, the data of John Hanna White married at Gilboa, Putnam Co., OH in 1879 to Emma Lenhart shows some indirect relationships. Also, a family connection of Lulu Maude White (dau. of John Herman White) marriage to Jessie Floyd Roberts at Putnam Co., OH 1906 is noteworthy. Also Nancy White married Harold Ginther who was born in Putnam Co., OH and is the father of Phyllis and Louellen Ginther who both married Steve Olson, the son of Barbara Braught, a gggrand daughter of Franklin Charles Braught who was reared in Gilboa, Putnam Co., OH. Judith Mathre also added data on William Washington Butler and Sarah (Sadie) White indicating that William was born 1836 in Gallia Co., OH s/o William H.H. Butler and Julia Burrage who settled in Greenbush, Warren Co., IL by 1940. William first married Sarah Conway/Conaway 30 Apr 1859 and had 4 children (her g-grandfather Gilbert H. Butler surviving). William Butler then married Sarah White 18 Sep 1867 and they arrived in Warren Co., Iowa in 1874, according to his bio in a local history book. William died of influenza in Warren Co, IA 5 feb 1920. Sarah died within 5 days of that date, but she did not have her death data, except that she understood that neither realized the other was dying. References
