Facts and Events
His parents were obviously determined to have a son named Charles, as this name was used twice (first son, Charles E. died young). Charles C. Braught married Verna N.Frye 11 Dec1901. See his obit. He as living with his grandfather, James White at KS in the 1909 Soundex. See 21 August 1929 article in Miami News Record, pg. 8 col. 4 "Mr. and Mrs. Charley Braught and nephew Wayne Braught of Ponca City, OK arrived Sunday for a few days visit with the former's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Z. W. Brought and relative near Fairland" (obtained from Miami, OK library July 1997). Wayne here is most certainly Roy Wayne, son of Byron Braught. This 25 July 1997 record was submitted by Hildred (Hughes) Ables [[email protected]] from Miami, OK Library (she was a genealogy volunteer there and of much help during our visit there. Charles C. should have WWI Draft Registration data. See photo of Donald Dean McGorder spending summer in Ponca City, OK with Charley and Verna (Abt. 1943). I suspect that Chas. and Verna had no children, but welcomed nephews for visits. Notice how close he stayed with his family over generations and locations. |
