Obituary

Died, at her home, on Friday, Dec. 19, 1890, Mrs. Wm. Osburn, at the age of 50 or more. Together with the names of other pioneers of this township, somewhere in the list that appeared about 24 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Osburn's names are recorded. For the last two years her health has been by spells, completely broken down by dropsical ailment. Last Friday, feeling unusually well, she paid her neighbor, Mrs. Patrick, a visit. On returning she began to cough in so convulsive a manner that she expressed fear that her violent cough would terminate her life. A physician was immediately summoned to her aid, but before he could arrive the family had realized the truth of her fears. Mrs. Osburn is the mother of eight children, of which five sons and two daughters, together with her sorrowing husband, survive her. She was and ever will be remembered as a kind and indulgent wife and mother, and a highly respected neighbor, and the gloom with which her death has overshadowed their home, reaches far out to the surrounding community. She was an honored member of the Rebecca Lodge, and a profoundly conscientious woman. Her funeral will be held from the house Monday at 10 o'clock. Rev. Garlick, of Hubbardston, will administer the funeral rites.
