      Per grand-daughter Lois Pumphrey Hawkins, Sarah Margaret was known as Margy (hard G).

     Sarah, when she was older, lived across from the Prairie school. From there she lived in turn with son's Orval, Frank, and"Tip" (O. C.). She settled in with Orval, where she later died.

     The 1927-28 Pictorial Atlas & Plat Book of Tipton County, Indiana, by O'Banion, on page 79 shows a five generation picture of Marion Otha Pumphrey, D. Frank Pumphrey, Sarah Margaret (Peters) Pumphrey, Sarah Elizabeth (Shuck) Peters Sanford, and James B. Shuck.

Services set for Sarah Pumphrey.

    Sharpsville, November 30. -  Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 2 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church in Groomsville for Mrs. Sarah M. Pumphrey who died at 1:15 p.m. at the home of a son, Orval, in Sharpsville. Mrs. Pumphrey, who was 82, died one hour after suffering a heart attack.
    The body will lie in state at the Orval Pumphrey home until time for services, which will be conducted by Rev. Franklin Arthur of Fulton. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
    Mrs. Pumphrey was born November 26, 1863 in Frankfort, Ky., To John and Sarah Peters. The family, in which they were 10 children, moved to Prairie township when Mrs. Pumphrey was 7 years old.
    In September 1832 Mrs. Pumphrey was married to Joseph M. Pumphrey of Prairie township., in Groomsville. They were the parents of four children. two of whom are living, a daughter, Lola, died in 1921 and a son, Frank died in 1942. Mr. Pumphrey, who was a farmer died Feb. 4, 1921. Mrs. Pumphrey lived about three miles northwest of Sharpsville.
    Two sons, Orval Pumphrey of Sharpsville, and O. C. Pumphrey of Ellsworth, Ill,; six half-sisters and brothers. Susan Searcy of St. Joseph, Mo., Mary Whitt, Warrensburg, O., Lily Atkinson of Osowatomie, Kan., Daisy McDowell of Vandalia, Ill.; Thomas Sanford of Chicago and Jesse Sanford Kokomo; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren survived.
