Facts and Events
Sarah Northern's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 1st October 1771 when she married a labourer called Thomas Lewis at Willen in Buckinghamshire. Sarah and Thomas went on to have eight children baptised at Willen between 1772 and 1790. Two of the children died young in 1777 and 1784, whilst their eldest son died aged sixteen in 1788. In 1791 Sarah's daughter Elizabeth had a son, who was Sarah's first grandchild. He was also the only grandchild born in her lifetime. Sarah died in 1793, when her youngest son was only two years old. She was buried at Willen on 16th March 1793. Her burial record does not say how old she was. She and Thomas had been married for 21 years. Thomas outlived her by nearly thirty years, but does not appear to have remarried. References
