Several months ag o I entered Hugh Montgomery, Butler Co., Ohio in the Google search and foun d your Montgomery site and I also found the information on your Rootsweb pag e probably after that time. James Martin and Sarah Montgomery were married October 5, 1 815 in Butler County, Ohio. The last child born to them was in 1838. Hi s enlistment papers show he was born in IN but his obituary says he wa s born in Hendersonville, IL. I would almost be inclined to believe t he obit would be correct but don`t know. And they moved to Marion, IA i n 1838 or 1839. Here are James and Sarah Montgomery Martin`s children. Mary Martin born 1817 died May 15, 1862 Hugh Martin born April 16, 1818 died October 21, 1871 Adaline Martin born 1823 died January 20, 1890 Elizabeth Martin born 1824 died March 2, 1879 Dorcas Martin born June 11, 1825 died January 6, 1903 Lucy Martin born September 11, 1827 died November 11, 1851 Sarah Martin born 1830 died June 11, 1904 Agnes Martin born December 15, 1832 died September 2, 1900 James A. Don`t know where his 2nd wife Agnes is buried. Not sure i f the spouses of the others listed above are buried by their spouses. James A. and Emily Burch Martin had six children one of whi ch was James Beall Martin and he is my maternal grandfather. The above mentioned Giles Martin served in the Civil War an d was two days lacking of serving 50 months according to his obituary . In Giles obituary it states he came to IA in 1939 and the family set tled in Martin`s Creek. All of the above information was given to me by a second co usin that had done an extensive search. I can`t attest to it`s accuracy, but I am sure it must be q uite close. This same second cousin always wanted to find `proof` on th is side of the family of someone being in the Revoutionary War as she want ed to be in the DAR. Do you feel that the information you have listed on th e Montgomery site is sufficient to enable her to accomplish that? Regards, DH
