Alexander Maxwell married 1862 Sarah, daughter of J. James McCall of Daldowie, Lanarks, and widow of Col. R. D. Campbell CB of 71st Regt. (Times). Sarah McCall, eldest daughter of James McCall of Baldowie (sic), married Robert Dennistoun Campbell, 71st Highland Light Infantry, 7jul1857 at Blythswood, Glasgow (IGI, Gentleman’s Magazine). Col. Maxwell, CB, marr Sarah, widow of Lt Col. Campbell, CB, and eldest dau of James McCall, esq., of Daldowie, 27jun1862 at Knightsbridge (Oxford Journal, findmypast). Alexander Maxwell marr Sarah Campbell 2nd qtr 1862 at St. Geo Hanover Sq., London (bmd).

Sarah McCall (and Alexander) had children in Edinburgh; she died 27jul1899 (M. Williams). Scottish archives have the will of Sarah Maxwell or McCall, daughter of late James McCall of Daldowie and widow of Gen. Alexander Maxwell, d. 27jul1899 at London, reg. 1899 Airdrie (scotlandspeople).
