- ↑ In later years they moved to just across the creek from the home of theirdaughter Ida and "Roop" Blickenstaff. Faris and Stella (Leatherman)Smith who were married in 1903, bought the farm on Meeting House Road.They tore down the old Shuff house and built a new one on the same sitefor their growing family.

The road got its namefrom the Grossnickles Meeting house, the Dunkard church, about midwaybetween Johns home at "Schnitztown" and his parents on Gravel Hill.Schnitztown this tiny community along Meeting House Road, got its namefrom the "schnitz", slices of apples or peaches that the good Germanhousewives dried on the low shingle roofs of their farm buildings. Itwas the job of the children to shoo away hungry birds and chickens.Sally Shuff's sister, Jane (McGruder) Warrenfeltz lived further up alongMeeting House Road, so the two families were close neighbours

- ↑ "The Work of Death - Mrs. Shuff - Mrs. John Shuff dropped dead onSaturday last at the picnic near Cavetown, Washington County. She hadonly been on the grounds for a short time when she complained of a painin her head. Medical assistance was summoned but she died in 20 minutes.Mrs. Shuff was 55 years and leaves a husband and several children. Thefuneral took place on Monday, interment was made at Wolfsville, thiscounty."
- ↑ "Wolfsville--Aug. 8. --The sad and sudden death of Mrs. Sarah Shuff tookplace on the Chewsville Picnic grounds on Saturday last about 10o'clock. Deceased was the wife of Mr. Jno. Shuff of Beaver Creek,formerly of this place, the sister of Mr. Jno. Magruder, of Hagerstown,and the niece of Mrs. Jacob Wolf, of our village. Her remains wereconveyed to the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Richard P. Johnson, ofCrystal Falls, where they were embalmed and prepared for burial byundertaker Maurice Garver, of Smithsburg. Her age was 59 years, 4 monthsand 21 days. Her mortal remains were interred in the Reformed burialground of this place Monday about noon. Rev. A.M. Smith assisted by Rev.Charles A. Santee, officiated. The husband, three sons and fivedaughters survivie to mourn their loss. They are: Rufus, residenceunknown; William and John of Ohio; Mrs. W.R. Blickenstaff and Mrs G.N.Delauter, of this place; Mrs. R.P. Johnson of Cavetown; Misses Sallieand Lizzie, who remain at home. The youngest son, John, arrived too lateto witness the burial, having been delayed at Parkersburg and Harper'sFerry, but was in time for the funeral sermon. A large crowd of freindswere present to pay their last tribute of respect to their former freindand neighbor. The late Mrs. Shuff was a member of the Lutheran churchand was an affectionate wife and mother."
