  3. Source:Crane, Ellery B. Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County, Massachusetts, Vol. 1, p. 163, says Sarah died 1798 with no further explanation. No such death record is found, but there is found in Pepperell where her husband died, the death of widow Sarah Fisk on 2 Feb 1792. Sarah being such a common name, it cannot be assumed that this is her, though the basis for a death in 1798 is not known. It is hoped that Crane did not, but suspected that he did, simply copy from the notoriously unreliable Source:Pierce, Frederick Clifton. Fiske and Fisk Family Being the Record of Symond Fiske, Lord of the Manor of Stadhaugh, Suffolk County, England, p. 153, which says Sarah d. 1798 with no justification. Nothing in Josiah's probate file [Middlesex Case 7624] mentions the reversion of her dower, though she was alive in 1789 when it was partitioned and set off for her.
