! Daniel Kane's Pension packet gives this information on his first wife, Sarah. A deposition of Charles A. Speece(?) says, "I first knew the said Daniel Kane about the year 1865 and knew him for several years thereafter. I remember very well of the death and burial of his first wife--she was buried in the Columbus Cemetery, of which cemetery I am the secretary and have been such secretary continously for the last twenty years and have during that time had the records of said cemetery in my custody. That the register of death and burial of said cemetery show that Catherine S. Kane (wife of said Daniel Kane) died September 20, 1868, and that she was buried in Lot 3 Block 9."
