Facts and Events
Her name is Gordon in their marriage record, and Ferguson in her children's marriage records. Willodean Waldon, her gggranddaughter, states Sarah's mother died when she was very young and her father gave her to the Gordon family. In 1850 in Trumbull county, there was a Samuel Ferguson with no wife and five children, one of whom was a daughter, Sarah A. age 4. The 1900 census indicates four children had been born and were alive; five had been born and Curtis, twin to Ella, had died. Obituary Mrs. Henry Coral passed away at this place last week at her comfortable home on Main street. Gangrene was the immediate cause of her death, though she had declined steadily in health for the past year. The funeral was held on Sunday at the M.E. church and was largely attended by friends and life-long acquaintances. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Mason of Alma. Mrs. Coral was a genuine homemaker in any sense of the word, and to her husband, who has for the past three years remained constantly by her side, she was a steadfast bosom companion. Sarah A. Ferguson was born July 16, 1848, in Medina county, Ohio. She was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Coral April 21, 1866. Mr. and Mrs. Coral moved to Gratiot county February 12, 1882, where they have continuously resided ever since. At the age of 16 she united with the Presbyterian church, of which she was an active member. By this union five children were born, one having died in infancy. Mrs. Coral leaves to mourn their loss a loving husband and three children. Source: Alma Record, Thursday, November 22, 1917, pg 2. Image Gallery
