Obituary of Late Mrs. S. J. Amburn unidentified newspaper, undated clipping Sarah J. V. Edwards, daughter of Jeremiah and Elizabeth Edwards was born near Woodlawn, Carroll county, Virginia on Feb. 4, 1855. She was married to Alexander M. Amburn, Dec. 23, 1880. To this union were born seven children, three of whom are now living. She united with the Christian church when about seventeen years of age, and lived a Christian life to the last. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and neighbor. She leaves to mourn her loss, three children, Walter M. and Arthur H. of Tilford, S. Dak., Oscar M. of Whitewood S. Dak. two brothers, Ira P. Edwards of Douglas, Nebr., Columbus J. Edwards of San Leandro, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. T. J. Edwards of Radford, Va., and Mrs. LeGrand Stone, Hamilton, Mo., thirteen grandchildren and a host of friends. She departed this life on April 28, 1931 at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 24 days. She came to the Black Hills from Galax Virginia in 1912 and lived with her children until her death.
