235 DESCENDANTS SURVIVE HYNDMAN RESIDENT, AGED 87 - HAD 72 GRANDCHILDREN - Mrs. Sarah C. Deneen, Whose Death Occurred Last Week, Was Mother of 16 - HYNDMAN, March 12 - Mrs. Sara (Crawford)Deneen, aged 87, who had 235 living descendants, died last Thursday at her home here after an illness of several weeks of complications of diseases. Her death occurred the day preceding her 87th anniversary. Mrs. Deneen was the mother of 16 children, eight of whom survive. She also is survived by 72 grandchildren, 141 great-grandchildren and 14 great-g reat-grandchildren. It is believed that the deceased has a record number of living descendants in this part of Pennsylvania. The surviving children are: 6 daughters - Mrs. Mary E. Day of Meyersdale, Mrs. Allie Fuller of West Salisbury, Mrs. Martha J. Huffman of Hancock, MD; Mrs. Cassie Bell Divelbiss of Hyndman, Mrs. Barbara Leydig of Hyndman, & Mrs. Maggie Smith of Jenners; 2 sons, John E. Deneen of Hooversville and Samuel J. Deneen of Fairhope. She was a sister of John and Levi Crawford, both of Hancock, Md., and Mrs. Martha Korns of Ohio. Mrs. Deneen's husband passed away 27yrs ago. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, with burial in the Hyndman Cemetery.
