“Sara Adda Byers, daughter of E.W. and Rebecca Byers, was born at Avery, Iowa April 8, 1866 and died at her home northeast of Albia, July 20, 1952, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 12 days. She married George C. Gray Feb. 18, 1891. He died Feb. 27, 1951. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Russell and two daughters, Dessie Baayen and Wilma Moore.Surviving are four children, Gladys, Mrs. Mary Whitelock and Eugene and Harold, twelve granchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Maud Reddish, two brothers, Dr. A.G. Byers and Dr. J.R. Byers. In early childhood, she united with the Presbyterian Church and later transferred her membership to Service United Presbyterian Church and was a member at the time of her death. Funeral services were held at Service Chapel conducted by the Rev. C.L. Young and burial was in Service Chapel cemetary.”
