Sanford (Stan) Wetmore, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 39th, 2022. Stan was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on July 4th, 1940, to Monroe and Jen Wetmore. He is survived by his wife Joyce, son Scott Weetmore and his wife Julie, daughter Sandra Fish, and sister Meridith Weiss. Along with his four grandchildren, Brett and Olivia Wetmore, Tylor and Merisa Fish. There are also several nieces and nephews. Following his graduation from Crosby High School, Stan went on to graduate from the Academy of Aeronautics. Stan pursued his passion for flying by joining the US Navy where he spent 7 years as a pilot flying fighter jets onto aircraft carriers. After leaving the Navy, he became a pilot for TWA for 30 years and later obtained a small multi-engine license. In his later years, Stan and Joyce enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and parts of Europe, including a month-long journey in Alaska. Additionally, they enjoyed hiking, kayaking and biking. Stan was an active member of our community, volunteering for multiple town committees and spending his time working closely with seniors.
