I've been pulling a few things off the internet for the Kenaga reunion in Howell Co coming up in a few weeks. Found something new...

For your information: Mathias Kenaga lived in Roanoke Indiana when he enlisted, at least he listed this as him home. Never could find out why he lived there unless he had worked on a farm or something. Roanoke is just a hop skip jump from Smith Twp in Whitley Co, IN., where the Kriders also lived Does anyone know of the connection of Mathias living there, besides what I just found now with Sam Zent, his uncle-in-law. It's possible that the follwoing Sam H Zent, brother to the Susannah (Zent)Krider, gave him a job.

lineage: Jeremiah Krider/Susan(nah) Zent ...siblings....Sam Zent Melinda Krider/Mathias Kenaga ...............cousins

Warren Republican, Thursday, November 9, 1899 The death of Sam'l H. Zent, of Roanoke, occurred early last Monday morning. Mr. Zent located at Roanoke before the Wabash railroad was completed and was appointed the first agent at that station, which position he continued to fill without interruption until a few years ago, when he retired on account of the infirmities of age, and his daughter, Alice, accepted the position. He would have been eighty years old next April, and during his long life was known as a kind, clever gentleman. A wife and three daughters are left to mourn his departure. Funeral services took place on Wednesday afternoon at the U.B. church, the burial being in charge of the I.O.O.F., of which order he was a member for many years.
