"138. Samuel4 Welles, Jr. (Sgt. Samuel3, John2, Gov. Thomas1), born 15 October 1686 in Stratford, Connecticut (Barbour citing LR 4:481a); and died 16 April 1651 in Stratfield, Connecticut (Bridgeport United Congregational Church Records, slip index citing 1:56). … Samuel Welles left a will dated 13 November 1744 in Stratford, Connecticut, which names his wife Mary, daughters Sarah Blackman, Abigal Prince, Mary Hu[b]el, Rudenc [Prudence] Wells, Hester Wells; eldest son David Wells, youngest son Jedidiah Wells, son Samuel Wells; and appoints friend Theophilus Nichols as executor; witnessed by Theophilus Nichols, Abner Wakelee, and Hannah Whitne[y]. … the will was approved by the court on 26 April 1751, … The widow's dower thirds were set off on 12 August 1752 (Fairfield Probate District, Connecticut Estate Files, docket no. 6761)."
