No birth record has been found for Samuel Washburn, but his parentage is shown by the will of this father, John Washburn, dated 30 October 1686 and naming son Samuel, with other children. In a deed, dated 9 January 1677, recorded 26 April 1720, John Washburn, Sr. of Bridgewater, planter, with the consent of his wife Elizabeth, gave 35 acres of land in Bridgewater to his son Samuel.
