Samuel and his second wife, Elizabeth Bowne, lived together many years but had no children.

From The Record: "Of the eleven children [of Edmond and Martha Washburn] ten of them lived to grow up and marry and were all living when the youngest was fifty years old. They all resided within the compass of twenty miles, one of another; several of them lived to upwards of eighty years and all lived and died in the [Quaker] faith in which their godly parents had instructed them."

    [Since this source predates computers, I assume the date of Jan. 1 is legitimate. After all, somebody has to die on Jan. 1 (Death Takes a Holiday). However, on websites, Jan. 1 often is used by some people when only the year is given in the primary source. As a result, it triggers doubts about its reliability. If it was legitimate, one would expect to find it listed on, say, NYGBR, Vol. 7, p. 86, and we don't?]
