Samuel Walter Thomure died at his home on Farmington Route Three at seven o'clock last Saturday evening, December 15, 1928 after an illness of one week of pneumonia, aged 67 years, four months and three days. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill church at two o'clock Monday afternoon by Rev. W.E. Coffer. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The deceased was the son of the late Louis and Sarah Thomure. On May 15, 1882 he was united in marriage to Louisa Bowling. To this union ten children were born, four of whom preceded in death. The wife and mother survives together with the following children, Virgie (Mrs. E.J.) Moore, Settie, (Mrs. F.K.) McCreary, of Farmington; Ethel (Mrs. Walter) Webb, of Ste. Genevieve; Bertie (Mrs. A.G.) Randolph, of St. Louis; Ralph and Guss at home. There are also 19 grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends left to mourn the passing of a real friend.
Mr. Thomure was the last of his father's family to pass to the Great Beyond. He had not been in good health for about a year, but had been able to go about his work until attacked by that dread disease, pneumonia. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was in industrious, honest, accommodating man and a good neighbor, a friend to all and will be greatly missed in the neighborhood where he had so long lived.
