Son of Joe and Mary McCarty Sorrell [this was actually Nancy McCarty Fielder Sorrell]. Sam was born in Bath County 1 May 1877. [Note: birthdate in obit is wrong; date from family bible was 13 Apr 1877.] Survived by two children from former marriage: Mrs. Ernie Downs [Alma Sorrell Downs] of Owingsville and Omer Sorrell of Clark County. Survived by one brother: Simps [Simpson] Sorrell of Bath County. Interment in Jackson graveyard.
