In the 1900 census for Victoria, Rice Co., Kansas, Samuel B. Shankland is 49, born Apr 1851 in Indiana (father Ohio, mother Kentucky), married 6 years, farmer; wife (Valuade?) M. is 29, born Sept 1870 in Pennsylvania (parents same), with 2 of (3?) children living; their sons are Roy B. 3 b. Oct 1896 in Kansas; and Samuel V. 10 months b. I believe he may have divorced Lavanda since she married Hiram S. Sampson in 1906.
