Genealogy.com World Family Tree Notes: When Harris and Vanita Hicks were in Kansas looking for the Cemetery, they stopped in Green. A young Marine Lt. barbequeing saw them and asked if he could help. When we said H's great-grandfather used to live in Green in the 1800's, he said, "That's when it was Light Green." SJP ran away to sea at age 12 with brother (English Merchant Marine). Stowed away. Sailed around the cape 3 times. In San Francisco, probably jumped ship and joined US Navy. When asked where he was born, probably said Bridport, but expected it to be heard as Bridgeport, CT. His ship spent most of Civil War in Acapulco.
