    "[6.] Samuel (Peck) … b. in Guilford, Conn., Jan. 18, 1659; came to Greenwich, Conn., with his father in 1678; was well educated; m. Nov. 27, 1686, Ruth Ferris, said to have been a dau. of Peter, a son of Jeffrey Ferris, of Stamford, Conn.; became the progenitor of the numerous Greenwich families of his surname; was a man of large wealth and influence; for about fifty years was a Justice of the Peace, and held other important positions in Greenwich, where he died April 28, 1746. His wife d. there Sept. 17,1745, aged 83. Their gravestones are still standing in the old Greenwich cemetery."
