From Tina Brown; Samuel Avery Jasper Morrow was born July 21, 1873 and died 1949. He married first Florence Sherrill and had these children: Flora Belle who married Fred Gates. ... Avery's second child by Florence is Jasper Garland who was born Nov. 21, 1901and died Jan. 21, 1982. He married Ruth Dellinger (b. Sept. 19, 1899 d. Dec. 27, 1988). Jasper Garland died of emphysema & Ruth died of a stroke. Both are buried at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cherryville, N.C. Jasper Garland changed (legally) his name to Sherrill after Avery left him & Flora with their maternal Grandmother & never came back after their Mother died. Jasper & Flora never saw their Father again after their Mother's funeral. ... Avery moved to Greensboro, N.C.--telling his Mother-in-law he would return for his children when he got work. He instead married again. The Morrow family seems to had forgotten about the first two children until Pat Sherrill got in touch with Robert & through Robert, me. Avery married second Florence Powers and had these children: Floyd born Oct. 10, 1909 died Mar., 1993 Rother born Dec. 12, 1912 Tina "Tiny or Teensy" born Jan. 21, 1916 died July 27, 1992 She married a Murphy Garnett
