Samuel was the 4th of 9 children born to Thomas Jefferson & Rebecca (Patton) Meadors. Thomas was the younger brother of Jacob Mobley and William J. Meadors that [sic] went to Craword Co., AR by wagon train.

(Don't know if it's our Samuel but worth investigating - it's appears close to the same area that his Uncle Jacob Mobley Meador(w)s lived.)

From an article about daughter, Martha Jane, it says:
Sam was born in Kentucky in 1832. He settled at old Belmont, located south of Dyer, Arkansas.
He was farmer. He and Martha Jane Pope were married and had 9 children.
