Manuscript on the family of Jacob Isaac Jackson and Martha Jane Ford:

Samuel Grant Leabo born 17 Oct 1867 in Ray Co., Missouri. He died 11 Jan 1910 in Hamilton, Missouri. He was the son of Isaac Leabo and Elizabeth Kelsey. Note: Stella Coshow writes: Cleveland Kelsey of Caldwell Co., was an uncle of Samuel Leabo. Elizabeth Kelsey Leabo had children by her first marriage which was to a Gulley. Mr. Sam Bridgewater, who had a store at Kingston, Mo., for many years said you could tell from Sam Leabo's hands he was a hard worker. Mr. Bridgewater always enjoyed the opportunity to talk about Sam Leabo and said there was not a more honest or harder working man anywhere around.

Samuel and Malinda were just getting established whe he died of typhoid fever in his early forties. A son Jewell died of typhoid within two weeks of his father. Malinda was left with seven children, ranging in ages from four to twenty-one. The family stayed on the farm for about three years; from there they moved to Altamount M. then to Cameron Mo.. It was Cameron that naother son Jimmy was killed by a train on Easter Sunday. Later the family moved to Kidder, Mo., then to Hamilton where Malinda lived with her youngest daughter, Stella. Malinda belonged to the Methodist Church where she was baptized by Tommy Swearingen at the age of fifteen. Malinda lived with Stella until her death in 1937.
