    I. Samuel Guthrie Gilcrest; Born February 1st, 1837, in Guernsey County, Ohio. As a young man he taught in McLean County, Illinois. In 1862 he was in Union County, Ohio, and started in his life of farming and stock raising. Married Elizabeth Longbrake, September 9th, 1862, near Marysville, in that county. She was born in Union County, September 30th, 1844. When they retired from the farm they lived in Marysville. He died in Cambridge, Ohio, while visiting in the home of a granddaughter, March 8th, 1918. His widow survives and makes her home in Marysville."
