Revolutionary War Pension Application Information for Samuel D. Davis 17 April 1833, Gallatin County, Kentucky: Samuel is 72 Years old, he entered the service 10 June 1777 as a substitute for his father Joseph Davis who was then drafted to serve six months in the Pennsylvania Militia. He was born and raised in York County, Pennsylvania, at the age of thirty two he removed to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and then to Kentucky about 26 years ago, and for the last 15 years has resided in Gallatin County. Lewis Sanders, William Lindsay and Jesse Lindsay testified for him in Gallatin County same date. Samuel Davis b. 1761
Fayette County, Illinois, 1 September 1851, Samuel D. Davis says he removed to Illinois to be with his children and wants his pension transferred to Illinois.
26 September 1855, Jefferson County, Indiana, Nancy Davis appeared aged 77 years. Samuel died at Springfield, Illinois, 21 November 1853. They were married 14 August 1825. Name before marriage was Nancy Crowder.

have copies of the Rev. War Pension papers on Samuel D. Davis and his second wife, Nancy Crowder Davis. Samuel Davis was born in 1761 in York County, PA and died Nov. 21, 1853 in Fayette County, IL and in 1855, his widow, Nancy was living in Jefferson County, Indiana, aged 77 years. She filed for pension.
