    Newspaper Clip: Samuel Bunton born in Mercer County on 10 Feb 1783. In the War of 1812 he served as a Private in Capt. George McAfee's Company of KY. Detached Militia commanded by Lt. Col. Gabriel Slaughter. Samuel married Rachel Wilson in Fayette County on 25 Aug 1812. She was born in PA. 1 Sep 1786, the daughter of Thomas Wilson of Jessamine County, KY. This Thomas Wilson died at his home near Keene in 1835 and left several sons and daughters whose descendants are now scattered throughout the United States. His (Samuel Bunton) first home was on a tract of 60 acres, a part of his father's farmland (Mercer Co., Ky.), John and Mary Bunton had conveyed this property to Samuel on 2 Dec 1806 for $100. They specifically stated in the deed that this conveyance of land was to their son, Samuel Bunton (Deed Book 6; p. 345). In 1817, the property of John Bunton, Jr. was divided among all his children. Samuel was allotted the part which lay adjacent to the tract on which he lived, and it included his parents' dwelling house and the nearby spring . At the same time, Samuel increased his acreage by buying some of his brothers' and sisters' shares. As he improved and expanded his operations, he became known as an honest and capable man and a prosperous farmer.

    Samuel Bunton is buried in the New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery, McAfee, Mercer Co., Ky.
