One source indicated that Samuel and Hannah had eight children.

Samuel came to the United States to visit his son, James E. Eaton from time to time. On his return to England in 1854(9) he disappeared. No trace of him was ever found, but it is thought that he met with foul play since he was carrying a large sum of money. A transcript , by the "Immigrants Ships Transcribers Guild" lists Samuel and daughter Zipporaph as steerage passengers on the ship "Christiana" from England to Port of New York, arriving 1 July, 1858. Samuel is listed as age 58 years, 11 months and Zipporah as age 12 years, 9 months.

Appears in an 1851 Census in Sussex, England.
