1. The 1860 Federal Census for Pleasant Vale Twp., Pike Co., IL lists Eleanor Willis, age 11, born in Illinois, as living in the Solomon Shewe, Sr. household. (Page 825, Line 11) This Ellen/Eleanor was probably the daughter of Sampson Willis (1808, PA - ) and Eliza/Elizabeth Harrison; married 30 Nov 1830, OH. (e-mail from Marynel Corton, 12/15/01) 2. Sampson was a noted gunsmith. 3. Source 163 says he came to Illinois about 1851, but he already appears on the 1850 Pleasant Vale Census.
