  6. Bethiah Cheever is age 7 in 1787 when her guardian's bond is posted along with siblings William age 5 and Sally age 2. In 1802, land is sold on behalf of William and Sally, indicating that Bethiah had died by then. The guardian's accounting in 1803 for her sister Sally mentions that two children having share died after their father, presumably Bethiah, plus William since 1802. These documents are cited on the father's page.
  7. After her first husband died, Sarah's mother remarried to a man who lived in Lynn. In 1803 they settled her guardian accounts, Sally reaching 18. This marriage would have occurred when she was 20. Other than the guardian account, there is virtually no record of Sally.
*The Salem World of Nathaniel Hawthorne, by Margaret B. Moore,p. 78 has a short biography of Francis Moore who married Sarah Cheever in 1805, "a somewhat shadowy figure". He was a schoolteacher in Lynn, then Brighton, MA, Eaton, NY, and eventually Texas. In Lynn, Massachusetts, "in 1805 young Francis married Sarah Cheever, daughter of Abner and Mercy Newhall Cheever."
*This source is wrong. It is clear this book merely scanned the Lynn VRs for a Sarah Cheever of an appropriate age, and finding only one (b. 1 Jul 1789), assumed that was the answer. However, Abner and Mercy Cheever moved to Saugus, MA, where Abner died . His will dated 6 Jul 1831 (Essex Probate 5201) names daughter Sarah A Cheever along with wife Marcy, children Emily, Frederick, Henry and Belinda Perley, and three grandchildren George N., Elizabeth Ann, & Maria Loisa [these appear to be the younger children of his deceased son Abijah (record 213, record 58, record 18). Besides apparently being unmarried in 1831, Sarah appears to die unmarried in 1859, record 3, so it is clear it was not her that married Francis Moore.
*This death record of this Sarah, on the other hand, gives her name as Sarah Moore, identifying her parents as William and Rebecca, and while there is not explicit mention of Francis, it seems nearly certain she was his wife.
