Ruth Sharpe Shoemaker, 87, of 636 Dixon Road, died at 5:25 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Alamance Health Care Center after 28 days critical after a home accident. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Arnold W. Shoemaker, and the daughter of the late Judge W. Sharpe and Mary Emma Shoffner Sharpe. She was retired from Western Electric Company and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Doris Crissman Sunday school class, the Young in Heart, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include a sister, Mrs.. Martha S. Stratton of Cherryville, N.C.; two brothers, Mr. Harry Sharpe and wife, Evelyn, and Mr. Tom Sharpe, all of Graham; and 17 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs.. Vita S. Isley, two brothers, Mr. Marvin Sharpe and Mr. J.W. Sharpe Jr..; one niece; and one nephew. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, April 23, 2005, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Joe Hauser. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today prior to the service at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. |
