Mrs.. Ruth May Sharpe, 89, formerly of 5903 S. NC 62, and a resident of Discovery Program, Burlington Manor, died Saturday, July 08, 2006 at 12 noon at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Burlington after several years of declining health and eight weeks critical illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Clayton Ross Sharpe, who died in September of 1994. She was the daughter of the late Charles Everett May and the late Mattie Minerva Shoffner May.

Mrs.. Sharpe was a retired hosiery employee and a member of the Low’s Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs.. Janet Shoffner, and her husband, Roger, of Liberty, Mrs.. Kathy Martin, and her husband, Steve, of Graham; three sons, Jimmy Sharpe, and his wife, Cathy, of Burlington, Donald Sharpe of Whitsett, Wayne Sharpe, and his wife, Patti, of Jacksonville, Florida; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs.. Nell Foster of Alamance and Mrs.. Doris Davis, and her husband, Grover, of Graham.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil May and Richard May.

A committal service will take place in the Low’s Lutheran Church Cemetery at 1:30 pm, Monday, July 10, 2006. A funeral service will follow in the Low’s Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm. Officiating will be the Rev. David Mielke. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the funeral. Other times the family will be at the residence of Janet and Roger Shoffner, 3964 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
