Ruth E. Crumrine, 97, of 307 W. Hanover St., Hanover, died Wednesday, August 14 at the home of her son.
Born December 8, 1898, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Alice (Sheely) Emmert. She was the wife of the late William B. Crumrine Sr., who died December 2, 1954.
Mrs. Crumrine graduted from Shippensburg State Normal School in 1917 with a degree in education. Upon graduation, she taught school in both Hanover and Southwestern Districts. The majority of those years of service included teaching at Mathias' School, a one-room country school of eight grades.
Mrs. Crumrine was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover, and the National Retired Teachers Associations.
She is survived by one son, William B. Crumrine Jr. of Hanover; three grandchildren; one great grandson and one step great granddaughter. She was predeceased by three brothers, Charles Emmert, Clint Emmert and Paul Emmert.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 17 at Kenworthy Funeral Home, Hanover, with the Rev. David L. DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
